Architectural Decision For Automatic Conversion

Architectural Decision For Automatic Conversion

While stamp cards and coupons serve different purposes (Rewards vs. Coupons), I intentionally designed their core reward structure identically to enable seamless automatic conversion.

Shared Configuration for stampcards and coupons

Why This Matters

This shared architecture enables automatic conversion. When customers complete a stamp card, the final reward seamlessly becomes a redeemable coupon in their wallet, no manual steps, no friction, no drop-off. The engagement loop continues unbroken.

I designed distinct creation flows for stamp cards and coupons to accommodate their different mechanics while maintaining visual and interaction consistency across both.

Stampcards/ Rewards

Since Stamp cards are loyalty programs, businesses set how much customers need to spend per stamp, and customers collect stamps over time to earn a final reward. The expiry is measured in months because it's a long-term program.

I designed the coupon system to feel intuitive for business owners while supporting diverse promotional strategies. The flow uses familiar patterns, visual previews, and optional fields to balance flexibility with simplicity. Businesses set a discount that applies right away, and they usually run for specific date ranges like 'this weekend only' or 'holiday sale.'

Balancing Complexity & Usability

Balancing Complexity & Usability

In a fast-paced startup, I learned that speed doesn’t have to mean sloppy design. A key challenge was keeping rewards and coupon flows consistent while meeting complex business and technical needs.

The rewards setup flow balances this well, it mirrors how businesses think about loyalty programs while staying simple and scalable. Close collaboration with engineers and defining assumptions early helped us move fast without compromising quality.

I tackled this by:

  • Creating reusable components for consistency

  • Working closely with engineering to balance feasibility and UX

  • Maintaining familiar patterns while adding new functionality
