I started as one of seven interns at a startup. By the end of the internship, only two of us were offered full-time roles. When my colleague eventually left, I became the sole UX designer responsible for rebuilding our entire product from scratch.

When you're the only designer, collaboration isn't optional—it's key. I've built strong relationships with our dev team and marketing folks, and honestly, ChatGPT and Claude have become brainstorming partners too—helping me think through problems, create documentation, and catch edge cases I might have missed.

Though I have backgrounds in engineering and business administration, design always captured my imagination. When the time came to restart my career, I discovered UX and dove headfirst into self-teaching. After gaining real-world experience at Taproot Foundation working with nonprofits, I joined the startup as an intern—which led to the journey you read about above.
